Back to school

Today was my first day with my new class of pre-Kindergartner's. You never know what you are going to get on the first day with a new class but it turned out to be a great first day. I really couldnt have asked for better. In honor of that first day I would like to share some fun things I have found for the classroom that I have found on Pinterest.

Here are some pictures of my door this year and the competition. The theme this year was Caldecott medal winner books.

The toddler room door. I love this one! there book was Kittens First Full Moon By Kevin Henkes.

One of the Preschool rooms decorated a door based on The Polar Express By Chris Van Allsburg.

Another Preschool rooms door decorations are based on The Snowy Day. By Ezra Jack Keats.

The Infant room decorated their room based on the book Olivia by Ian Falconer.

My door Is based on Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
I put blinking lights in the trees but you can't see them in the pictures.

Secret Talent

I have never gotten any awards for my athletic prowess nor any praise for my less then stellar academic endeavors. There is however one thing that I hold the record in. What is it you ask? can you stand the suspense? I have won the Jump Start Academy door decorating contest since it's existence which is the last two years. I will find out tomorrow if I won for a third year. Everyone needs to win at something even if it is just decorating a Pre-k classroom door.

The first year was a Dr. Seuss theme. I won with a door based on Dr.Seuss's Horton hatches the egg.

when you picked up the egg there was a little elephant bird in the nest.

Last year the theme was Disney Character's. My door was based on Tinker Bell and friends.

Tinker Bell was flying away from the tree with the help of florist wire.

We will see if I am still the reigning champ tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

it's been a while

It's been a while since I posted. I have been busy this holiday season. The biggest reason I haven't been posting is because I have been bummed because for some reason a lot of the pictures in past posts have disappeared. Anyway I am over it now and ready to start posting again. I will reach my year mark on the thirty first of December so that is cool. I am really looking forward to continuing to blog in the New Year. I hope everyone continues to enjoy the holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Gingerbread and candy!

The real gingerbread houses my class made. Every year I have my class make them and every year I ask myself if I am completely insane!

We've got Kwanzaa unity cups, we've got menorah's and we have Christmas wreaths. 

We change our tree every season. I love the sparkly white leaves we have on it now.
